Biography | Mike Buster

Mike Buster earned his bachelor of pastoral ministries degree from Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark., in 1980. He then earned his master of religious education degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1983.

Mike joined the staff at Prestonwood Baptist Church in 1989, and has served as the Executive Pastor since 1992.

Mike has many leadership responsibilities including serving as chief operating officer, overseeing a staff of more than 700, developing and maintaining long-range plans for the church, and overseeing the ministries and programs of the church.

He has also served as an adjunct professor for Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and has served on the board of trustees for GuideStone Funds, the financial resources of the Southern Baptist Convention. Mike has also served on the boards of H.I.S. BridgeBuilders and Amazon Outreach, as well as on the panel of the Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability. He often serves as a consultant regarding church growth, church relocation and building programs.

The previous churches Mike has served include First Baptist Church, West Palm Beach, Fla.; Putnam City Baptist Church, Oklahoma City; Emmanuel Baptist, Enid, Okla.; Field Street Baptist, Cleburne, Texas; and Northlake Baptist, Dallas, Texas.

Mike resides in Prosper, Texas, with his wife, Joanie. The Busters have three adult children, Micah (married to Nick Reis), Luke and Mark (married to Kaley). They also have one grandson, Liam.
