Dodger Blue | Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation, Dodgers, Clayton And Ellen Kershaw Contributing To Hurricane Harvey Relief Efforts

The Los Angeles Dodgers contributed to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts through a $100,000 donation to the Houston Food Bank and by contributing 5,000 fleece blankets to a Dream Center in Texas, which are to be distributed to flood victims.

“On behalf of the entire Dodger organization, we want to support and help those affected by Hurricane Harvey in the Houston area,” Dodgers resident and CEO Stan Kasten said in a released statement. “We feel it’s important to do our part in helping with the recovery efforts after this natural disaster that has devastated so many.”

In addition, the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation (LADF) will contribute proceeds from the in-game 50/50 raffle on Wednesday, Sept. 6, also in support of the Houston Food Bank. Players’ wives/significant others and team alumni will join the LADF 50/50 raffle sellers in selling tickets throughout the stadium.

“We’re deeply saddened to see the loss and devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey in Houston and surrounding areas,” LADF executive director Nichol Whiteman said.

“We are inspired by the tremendous amount of strength in adversity of those impacted, and encouraged by the continued relief and aid efforts bringing communities together during this time.”

Dodgers players will show their support for those affected by Hurricane Harvey by wearing Houston Strong batting practice t-shirts on Wednesday.

What’s more, Clayton and Ellen Kershaw pledged $100,000 to The Dream Center to aid in housing support for those who were displaced by Hurricane Harvey. “We are so honored to partner with the Kershaw Family Foundation to once again bring hope to hurting people,” said Director of public relations for The Dream Center Los Angeles, Clint Carlton in a statement to Dodger Blue.

“The support of the Kershaws will go a long away as The Dream Center and Kershaw Family Foundation partner together to bring hope to those families affected by Hurricane Harvey.” Carlton has spent the week working with local Dream Centers in Texas to aid in rescues and relief.

In addition to Kershaw, other Dodgers who have made individual donations to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts include Curtis Granderson, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy and wife Amanda, Yasiel Puig, and Ross Stripling and his fianceé Shelby.

Fans are encouraged to visit houstonfoodbank.org/dodgers to join the team in their efforts.
