Dr. Ronnie Floyd
Senior Pastor, Cross Church | President, National Day of Prayer Task Force
Dr. Ronnie Floyd has been a pastor since he was twenty years old. His experience, wisdom, and passion for God make him a powerful teacher of God’s Word and an inspiring leader.
Since 1986, Pastor Floyd has served as the Senior Pastor of Cross Church, Northwest Arkansas, now one of America’s largest congregations. He’s also the founder of The Summit, a businesspersons’ luncheon which hosts national guest speakers who share their insights on business, leadership and life principles and values.
Dr. Floyd has been a strategic leader in the Southern Baptist Convention for decades, serving throughout the denomination in keeping with his commitment to invest in others to win the world for Christ. In June 2016, he completed a two-year elected term as president of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC). As president of the SBC, Dr. Floyd received national recognition for making “racial unity a hallmark of his presidency.” He additionally wrote extensively on the need for it and built bridges between the Southern Baptist Convention and the National Baptist Convention.
Most of all, Floyd had been a champion for prayer and spiritual awakening in America.
In August 2017, Dr. Floyd was named the president of the National Day of Prayer Task Force, which mobilizes millions of Americans to observe the National Day of Prayer. The National Day of Prayer was created in 1952 by a joint resolution of Congress, and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. In 1988, President Ronald Reagan signed the amended law designating the first Thursday of May as a day of national prayer. Every year, millions of Americans, in tens of thousands of meetings across all 50 states, come together for unified public prayer for America.
Pastor Floyd has authored 20 books including The Power of Prayer and Fasting and FORWARD: 7 Distinguishing Marks For Future Leaders. His most recent book “Living Fit: Make Your Life Count By Pursuing A Healthy You” released in June 2018. In March of 2017, Dr. Floyd began a weekly podcast entitled Ronnie Floyd on Life and Leadership Today.
He received his bachelor’s degree from Howard Payne University and his master’s and doctoral degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He serves on the board of directors of the Family Research Council.
Pastor Floyd’s proudest accomplishments stem from his personal life. He and his wife, Jeana, have been married for 40 years. They have two sons, Josh and Nick and seven grandchildren.
