DENVER–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Fifty years ago, following a 20-year Jordanian occupation, Jerusalem was re-unified with Israel, and now for the first time, these historic events will be brought to the big screen. With personal accounts, historical footage and professional reenactments, Israel’s 55th Paratrooper Brigade is celebrated in the feature-length docudrama, IN OUR HANDS: The Battle for Jerusalem.” This special, one-night event comes to U.S. movie theaters on Tuesday, May 23 at 7:00 p.m. local time, from Fathom Events and the Christian Broadcast Network (CBN).

Following the feature, CBN CEO Gordon Robertson will share the significance of the Six-Day War and its implications on both current day and historical events.

Less than 20 years after reforming as a nation, Israel was on the verge of extinction, but six days in early June 1967 changed the course of history. “IN OUR HANDS” tells the story of Israel’s 55th Paratrooper Brigade and how Israel’s defense forces risked everything for the sake of their homeland. With firsthand interviews and historical reenactments, this powerful docudrama focuses on the commitment and sacrifice of the soldiers who brought Jerusalem back under Israeli control. Israel still celebrates Jerusalem Day every year in remembrance of these historic events known as the Reunification of Jerusalem.

’IN OUR HANDS: The Battle for Jerusalem’ features the untold and unparalleled tenacity of Israeli forces,” Fathom Events CEO John Rubey said. “This significant moment in Israel’s history will be featured on the big screen across the U.S. in stunning detail, the day before Israelis celebrate Jerusalem Day.”

“To know this story is to have to tell it, particularly on the 50th anniversary of the event,” CBN CEO Gordon Robertson said. “From the very Israeli paratroopers who fought it, IN OUR HANDS unveils the surprise victory that returned to the Jews the Old City of Jerusalem and the Western Wall of the old Temple. One soldier called it ‘the returning to the nation its heart.’ Most accounts of the Six-Day War are straight documentaries, and The Battle of Ammunition Hill is a sentence or two. No film we know of actually recreates these pivotal scenes and events with such intense accuracy. For new generations of Jews and Christians, IN OUR HANDS is a must-see.”
