CBS News (Columbus, GA): Dr. David Jeremiah – America’s Relationship with Israel Matters

COLUMBUS, Ga. – Well known author, pastor and televangelist Dr. David Jeremiah was the keynote speaker at an event at the Rivercenter Tuesday night.

The event was called “A Night to Honor Israel.” A full house turned out to show their support for the nation of Israel. The First Baptist Church orchestra and choir from Atlanta started off the evening. Rabbi Shalom Lewis of Marietta, the Senior Rabbi in the Southeastern US then addressed the audience. He was followed by Dr. Jeremiah, who plans to travel to Israel within the next week. Dr. Jeremiah says America has been blessed when we have treated Israel well.

“We had some of the greatest years of prosperity and blessing we’ve ever had as a nation. But now that we’ve forgotten that and turned our back on them in so many ways, even though we give lip service to that relationship, I think partly your question is answered in the affirmative. I believe we suffer because of what we do or don’t do with Israel.” Said Dr. Jeremiah.

Tuesday night’s even was sponsored by Christians United for Israel, an organization founded ten years ago. It’s the largest pro-Israel organization in the US with nearly three million members.
