Melissa Connors of Dallas was reaching instinctively for the holy water Friday at Dallas’ Cathedral Shrine of the Virgin of Guadalupe when she suddenly remembered: “Oh! It’s not there anymore.”
But neither that, nor the rising threat of the coronavirus had kept her or her fiancé, Michael Kelly, from attending the downtown service, along with about 50 other people spread throughout the large space.
“I’m grateful that we had a Mass,” said Connors, who along with Kelly worried how the ongoing crisis might affect their upcoming wedding plans. “We don’t know what’s going to happen later.”
