Faithwire | Get a First Look Inside the Massive Museum Set to Change the Way the World Sees the Bible

Amid the scores of booths representing Christian products, companies and nonprofits at this week’s National Religious Broadcasters Convention in Orlando, Florida, was a towering display set up to give thousands of attendees a fascinating introduction to the Museum of the Bible, an innovative new museum opening this November in Washington, D.C.

It’s a project that has been turning heads since the Green family — owners of the Hobby Lobby craft store chain — first announced that they would be spearheading the massive effort to create a technologically advanced museum that guides visitors like never before through the Bible’s deep and fascinating history, while also exploring the book’s profound cultural impact.

So, on Thursday, Steve Green, president and Hobby Lobby and chairman of the Bible Museum, took Faithwire on an interactive tour of the impressive display, breaking down the biblical content that’s slated to be included when the museum opens later this year.

During that discussion, Green also broke down why the family decided to build the museum, explaining that a deep love for the Bible firmly stood at the center of their quest to see the project come to fruition.

“Our family’s had a love for the Bible and that has been passed down for generations,” Green explained.

It was after the Green family started buying biblical artifacts and their collection grew that they connected with some individuals who were intent on seeing the bible museum take form; that was just the beginning.

“We felt this sense of responsibility to make sure that it got out of the starting gate,” he said. “It’s not your grandma’s museum.”
