NWI Times | Students sew for World Relief

Chesterton High School students in Mary Ann Martin’s intro to textiles and clothing class sewed baby pants for World Relief Baby Care kits.

Each World Relief Baby Care Kits contains 14 items that are distributed to babies age newborn to 2 years and their mothers somewhere in the world. Natural disaster areas, refugee camps and poverty-stricken places of the world will receive these kits. Each box of shipped kits has a tracking bar code that gives the location of the kits when they are delivered. Kits were delivered to El Salvador in Central America and Angola in Africa. The mothers and their babies who receive these kits know that others care about them and they are not forgotten.

“The students loved sewing these baby pants for the World Relief Baby Care Kits. I only wish we had more time to sew additional pants, diapers, or blankets,” Martin said.
