[Release] Prestonwood Baptist Church to honor Veterans and Active Duty Personnel at 3rd annual ‘Serving Our Heroes Luncheon,’ Tuesday, May 21

DALLAS — For the third year in a row, Prestonwood Baptist Church will honor our nation’s veterans and active military personnel with its Serving Our Heroes celebration on Tuesday, May 21.

Veterans and current military personnel, along with their families and friends, are invited to a free luncheon at the church’s Plano Campus. Former U.S. Representative and retired Air Force Colonel Sam Johnson will be the special guest and attendees will hear from guest speaker former Marine Tim Lee.

Lee, who lost both his legs while serving with the U.S. Marine Corps in South Vietnam, has spent the past 40 years in active ministry as a full-time evangelist. He has said, “America is worth living for, worth fighting for, and if need be, worth dying for.”

Rep. Johnson has a long career in public service. He represented the Texas’ 3rd District in Congress from 1991 to 2019 after serving in the state’s House of Representatives for six years. He is also a retired U.S. Air Force Colonel and a decorated fighter pilot in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. In the latter, he was an American prisoner of war in North Vietnam for nearly seven years. He is the last Korean War veteran to serve in Congress.

Last year, over 500 veterans, active duty personnel and guests attended this celebratory luncheon to honor our community’s greatest heroes.

Serving Our Heroes Luncheon will be held at the Student Ministry Building of the Prestonwood Baptist Church Plano Campus. Registration for the event is required. Guests can register here.

Food lines begin at 11:15 a.m., and lunch will be served at 11:30 a.m. Food will be catered by DFW favorite Babe’s Chicken Dinner House.
