San Diego Union Tribune: Details on SDPD officer’s funeral services

Here are the details for services planned for San Diego police Officer Jonathan “JD” De Guzman, who was killed in the line of duty on July 28.

Today, a funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 450 Corral Canyon Road, Bonita. Members of the public are welcome.

Those wishing to provide flower arrangements for the service should contact the church at (619) 482-3954 and schedule delivery between 9-10 a.m. Flowers brought to the church will be transferred to Shadow Mountain Community Church for a Friday memorial service there.

That service will be held at 11 a.m. at Shadow Mountain Community Church, 2100 Greenfield Drive, El Cajon. Gov. Jerry Brown is expected to attend. The public is welcome. Flower deliveries made between 9-10 a.m. should be coordinated with the church at (619) 440-1802.

Members of the public and law enforcement who are not part of a procession from Qualcomm Stadium to Shadow Mountain should park at Granite Hills High School, 1719 E. Madison Ave., El Cajon. Shuttle service to the church will begin at 9 a.m.

Cal Trans issued an advisory for motorists to expect delays on San Diego freeways Friday during the funeral procession, scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. The route, including on-ramps and freeway connectors, will be closed off on eastbound Interstate 8 from Interstate 15 in Mission Valley to Greenfield Drive in El Cajon. Delays may last 15 to 30 minutes.

Signs will be posted at various highway locations advising motorists to use alternate routes.

Following the service, likely between 1 – 2 p.m., a procession will require a closure of westbound I-8 to southbound state Route 125, then to southbound state Route 54, reaching Glen Abbey Memorial Park, 3838 Bonita Road, Bonita, for interment.
