Fathom Events and LifeWay Films partnered to bring the story of ‘the Ripkens’ to cinemas with the documentary “The Insanity of God,” a shocking examination of life as a missionary.
After a brief look at the early days of their marriage and the decision to share the gospel in Africa, Nik and Ruth Ripken journey into the depths of the persecuted church asking if Jesus is worth it? The Ripkens share the pain of losing their son as well as incredible ways “God shows up” and changes peoples’ lives.
Officially titled “THE INSANITY OF GOD with DAVID PLATT,” the documentary certainly shatters stereotypes and presumptions about missionaries, their work and life in areas like Somalia, the Soviet Union, China and the Middle East.
Based on the best-selling book of the same name, Insanity of God is the first theatrical release from LifeWay Films and returns to theaters on September 13 for an encore screening. Get tickets and more information at Fathom Events: HERE
Date: Tuesday, September 13
Time: 7:00 p.m. (local time)
Run Time: 1 hour 50 minutes (approximate)
After the feature presentation, there will be a Q&A with Nik Ripken and International Mission Board President, author and speaker David Platt, as well as a performance of “Dimitri’s Song” (featured in the production) by musical artist Todd Smith.
“I encourage you to go to the theater and watch this film. It will change your perspective on what it means to follow Jesus, and your life will be changed,” David Platt said.
