The Salem Media Group-owned station will present its 12th annual K-Praise Pastors Appreciation Luncheon, a free, pastors-only event from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at City View Church in Serra Mesa. The appreciation luncheon, expected to draw more than 200 pastors from San Diego-area churches, “is our way to say how grateful we are for all you do for our community and the world,” the station said.
Jeffress, whose “Pathway to Victory” program began airing earlier this year on KPRZ (weekdays at 11 a.m.), will be the keynote speaker. His program airs on more than 900 stations nationwide.
“We asked Dr. Jeffress to be the keynote speaker over one year ago, before Pathway to Victory began airing on KPRZ,” said Dale Hendry, VP of operations for Salem Media in San Diego. “It is really our pleasure to host such a national pastor as Dr. Jeffress. His ministry is one of a kind and we hope that San Diego pastors will enjoy the message of encouragement that he brings to them.” The title of Jeffress’ message is “Avoiding the Four Landmines of Ministry.”
Jeffress is known as a spiritual advisor to President Trump. As one of leaders of the President’s informal evangelical advisory council, Jeffress has introduced the President at previous public events, including the July 1 “Celebrate Freedom Concert” honoring veterans. The concert, sponsored by Salem Media, was held at the Kennedy Center in Washington.
Sponsors for KPRZ’s pastors luncheon include City View Church, Church Design and Construction, San Diego Christian College, the French Gourmet, Mission Pre-Born, Mount Miguel Covenant Village, CAPS Pregnancy Clinics, San Diego Gas & Electric and White Fields Ministry. Film Festival to Include ‘Branded Entertainment’ Screening
The San Diego International Film Festival, which runs Oct. 4-8, will include a “branded entertainment” screening featuring shorts produced by companies that highlight products, lifestyle choices and social issues.
The screening at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, at the United Artist Regal Cinema at Horton Plaza will include winners from the One Screen Global Shorts, an international competition presented by The One Club for Creativity, a New York City-based organization that produces The One Show, an international advertising awards competition.
SDIFF officials said the shorts will represent the best in commercial advertising work that pushes the boundaries of what is advertising and what is film art. Officials said attendees should include advertising professionals, filmmakers and others interested in the intersection of commercial advertising and art.
Following the screenings will be a panel discussing branded entertainment with advertising executives, including: Natasha Wellesley of 180LA, Brandon Rochon of Kastner & Partners LA, Shawn Johnson of NBCUniversal and Amel Monsur of VICE Media. The moderator will be Jonathan Jirjis of The One Club for Creativity. For more information, visit www.sdfilmfest.com.
Organizers expect some 20,000 people to view more than 120 films, including foreign films, features and documentaries, during the five-day festival.
