Lynchburg, Va. — The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) hosted the 2021 “Way Maker” World Conference Wednesday, Sept. 15 – Saturday, Sept. 18, at the Orlando World Center Marriott in Orlando, Fla.
The AACC’s World Conference is the largest regular gathering of Christian mental health professionals and first responders in the world, including licensed clinical counselors, professors, psychologists, psychiatrists, coaches, church leaders and various other caregivers for four days of professional development, networking and inspiration from internationally recognized leaders in faith and mental health. This year, all 50 states and over 20 countries were represented with over 6,000 in attendance in person and online.
The 4-day event included 50 3-hour pre-conference workshops, 175 workshops, plenary addresses, poster sessions, commissions, award ceremonies, as well as keynote addresses from Dr. Ben Carson, Dr. Curt Thompson, Dr. Daniel Amen, Dr. Greg Jantz, Dr. Michael Lyles, Shaunti Feldhahn, Levi Lusko, Lysa TerKeurst, Darryl Strawberry, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez and more. Clinical professionals debuted evidence-based and distinctively Christian clinical work on topics such as trauma-informed care, anxiety, depression, suicidality and prevention.
“The Way Maker World Conference is everything we anticipated and more,” said Dr. Tim Clinton, President of AACC. “God fell on the place. Life, encouragement, heart and grace filled a massive group of 6,000 first responders, battling our world’s current mental health disaster. Mental health professionals and ministry leaders from all over the country found world-class education, refreshment, restoration and encouragement. We look forward to continuing this tradition for years to come.”
