“Light in the Darkness” Theme Encourages Attendees to Continue Serving Their Communities Through Challenging Times

SAN ANTONIO — Care Net, a nonprofit ministry that supports one of the nation’s largest networks of pregnancy centers, kicks off its 36th annual conference today in San Antonio. The conference is the nation’s largest yearly gathering of pregnancy center and church leaders.

This year’s theme, “Light in the Darkness,” is drawn from John 1:15, which says, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

While much of the conversation around abortion in America is focused on outcomes of political battles at the national and local levels, Care Net and its partners have remained focused on providing the compassionate care – Christ’s light – that women and families deserve. Care Net’s unique approach to pro-life ministry emphasizes the central role the gospel of Jesus Christ plays in encouraging life-affirming decisions and in experiencing a lifelong transformation leading to stronger families and Biblical values.

“While pro-life advocates continue their important legislative and policy work, it is critical that those of us in Pro Abundant Life ministry remain focused on being the light of Christ in the communities we serve,” said Roland C. Warren, president and CEO of Care Net. “We should be encouraged knowing that God has big plans for us and for our efforts to not only save the unborn from abortion, but to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ and build strong families.”

More than 1,400 pro-life, pregnancy center, church, and ministry leaders will receive training and support at this year’s conference enabling them to enhance their efforts in helping women and men make life-affirming decisions about pregnancy and provide the life support that is so needed after those decisions.

Keynote speakers, which include Roland C. Warren, Dr. Sarah Sumner, Steve Arterburn, Chrystal Evans Hurst, Frank Peretti, and more, will share their unique perspectives on how God is providing and opening doors for the Pro Abundant Life movement.

And through its long-standing partnership with Regent University, Care Net will award a full-tuition scholarship to a former pregnancy center client from Newport News, VA, Tiffany Cusick. Facing an unplanned pregnancy and pressured to abort, Tiffany visited ALcove Health, where she was equipped to choose life. She is now pursuing her education in theology and Christian ministry so she can make a positive impact on the lives of others.
