What: | First Baptist Dallas, led by Senior Pastor Robert Jeffress, has been blanketing Dallas with billboards, radio and television ads, advertising a provocative message in order to attract skeptics to the church for Easter Sunday (which is also April Fool’s Day): “The Resurrection: Foolish, Fake News, Or Fact?”
When: | Sunday, April 1, 2018. Services are at 9:15 a.m. and 10:50 a.m.
Where: | First Baptist Dallas, 1707 San Jacinto St, Dallas, TX 75201 |
This year, Easter and April Fool’s Day occur on the same day. And while for the culture April Fool’s Day is a favorite day to tell tales, play tricks and go for laughs, for Christians, Easter is a time to affirm and celebrate the central tenet of their faith — the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. Yet for many, the resurrection of Jesus is little more than wishful thinking, or even worse, believing in an obvious lie. But according to Dr. Robert Jeffress, nothing could be further from the truth—and he aims to prove this on Easter. “Life after death is a certainty,” Jeffress said, “and the resurrection demonstrates it. And far from being foolish or fake news, sources outside of the Bible prove its historical truth beyond the shadow of a doubt.”
Dr. Jeffress’ message will take place in the heart of the city at “America’s Church,” First Baptist Dallas. The beautiful campus was updated in 2013 with over $130 million of renovations and upgrades to better serve the city. Worship will be led by their renowned 250-voice choir and orchestra under the direction of Dr. Doran Bugg. No stranger to our nation’s most prestigious concert halls, they were the first church music ministry invited to perform at the world-famous Carnegie Hall and performed for President Donald J. Trump at the “Celebrate Freedom Rally” at the Kennedy Center in July. First-time visitors will receive a copy of Dr. Jeffress’ bestselling book, A Place Called Heaven: 10 Surprising Truths about Your Eternal Home, which addresses the 10 most frequently asked questions about heaven.
