WASHINGTON, Nov. 2, 2017—Days before it opens to the public, Museum of the Bible will host media previews Nov. 14 and 15 at 11 a.m. at the eight-story, 430,000-square-foot museum in Washington. With primary exhibit floors dedicated to the history, narrative and impact of the Bible, the new museum—located three blocks from the U.S. Capitol—will also celebrate a grand opening dedication Nov. 17 and will open to the public for the first time Nov. 18. (Details about the dedication, which is open to media, will be available later this week.)
Preview days are designed to give media a first look at Museum of the Bible’s guest experience and an opportunity to speak with many of the experts—scholars, architects, collection curators, exhibit designers, technology specialists, museum leaders and more—involved in the museum’s development.

RSVP/APPLY FOR MEDIA CREDENTIALS: Media preview days are for working members of the media approved through the credential application process (click here to apply). Media must complete the application in full to be considered. The last day for expedited processing of credential applications is Friday, Nov. 10; submissions after that day, or on-site requests, may cause a delay in receipt of credential and entry into the museum. To pick up credentials and pass through security upon arrival, media must present a photo ID and working media credential. Additional instructions and details will be sent once credentials have been approved.
WHAT: Previews begin with a 20-minute briefing from Museum of the Bible leaders Board Chair Steve Green, President Cary Summers and Executive Director Tony Zeiss. Other experts positioned throughout the museum will then present highlights of the museum and entertain questions during optional mini-briefings about a variety of topics including:
- Construction, architecture and design elements;
- Themes, storylines and artifacts outlined in the three primary exhibit floors (History of the Bible, Narrative of the Bible and Impact of the Bible);
- Temporary Exhibition Galleries from the Israeli Antiquities Authority, Bible Lands Museum Jerusalem and The Vatican Library and Museum;
- High-tech aspects of the museum such as 3-D digital mapping in the 472-seat World Stage Theater, the 140-by-15-foot digital arcade ceiling and the Washington Revelations flyboard experience;
- Fresh, seasonal, biblically inspired food available in café Manna;
- The 3,000-square-foot biblical garden that connects guests to biblical plants and themes; and more.
