[Press Release] CBN NEWS CELEBRATES A NEW DAY FOR CHRISTIAN NEWS IN AMERICA

Feb. 3, 2017

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – CBN News’ recent exclusive sit-down interview with President Donald J. Trump has marked a new chapter for Christian news in America. The interview, which aired on the 700 Club on Sunday, Jan. 29, created over 20 million impressions on social media, led to 3.4 million video views — plus more than 700,000 views through President Trump’s social media share alone — and was viewed live by over half-a-million Americans. The interview was also mentioned more than 5,300 times in the press, and reached approximately 27.5 million people through TV and radio mentions.

During the time of the announcement and airing of the interview, CBN held over 83 percent of the market share of faith-based news outlets, distinguishing itself as the most widely sought after faith-based news provider in America.

“Christian press is not niche in a country of 80 million Evangelicals and over 200 million Christians. CBN News is glad to have a seat at the table to better serve our audience, an audience that believes faith has a place in the heart of the national conversation,” said Rob Allman, CBN Vice-President and News Director. “We will proudly continue serving as a trusted source of news for Americans who take faith seriously.”

Friday’s interview was CBN News’ first interview with President Trump and also the first sit-down interview with the president among all faith news outlets in the United States. However, CBN News Chief Political Correspondent David Brody, a veteran award-winning journalist, had previously interviewed Mr. Trump more than a dozen times, including 9 times during the 2016 Presidential campaign.

The wide ranging interview dealt with subjects of national and international relevance ranging from the U.S.-Mexico relationship, the Supreme Court, refugee resettlement, and even the President’s personal faith. Preview clips, made available to the general press, made headlines in national and international outlets.

The interview came a few days after White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer commended CBN News for highlighting issues often overlooked by other media outlets.

“There are issues that sometimes the mainstream media does not capture. And it’s important for those issues to get as much prominence as some of the mainstream ones,” said White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer in a recent interview.

“Maybe by hearing from the Christian Broadcasting Network, we [will] hear about an issue that otherwise would get drowned out,” Spicer added. Of CBN, he also said, “They have a magnificent audience.”

Throughout the campaign, the network has been at the forefront among all news outlets, often featuring exclusive interviews with presidential candidates and nominees. Last July, CBN Founder and Chairman Pat Robertson conducted a one-on-one interview with now President Trump days before he accepted the republican presidential nomination at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Cleveland, Ohio.

Last year, CBN celebrated 32 years of the network covering the RNC, the largest faith media presence at the convention in 2016.

Below are a few highlights from the reach and impact of CBN News’ interview with President Trump:

  • Created more than 20 million impressions on social media.
  • Led to more than 4.1 million views in social media video.
  • Viewed on live TV by over 500,000 people.
  • Mentioned more than 5,300 in the press, and reached approximately 27.5 million people via broadcast mentions.
