INTERNATIONAL DAY OF THE BIBLE IN OKLAHOMA IS COMMEMORATED WITH FREE “CELEBRATION OF THE BIBLE CONCERT”
As part of the celebration, Museum of the Bible to display rare, First Edition Cherokee Bible, printed in 1856 by Mission Press in Park Hill, Oklahoma.
OKLAHOMA CITY, OK – In commemoration of the International Day of the Bible, Senator James Lankford and Christian worship leader and recording artist, Jami Smith will host the “Celebration of the Bible Concert” on Friday, November 18 at First Church OKC at 6:30 PM. This event is being sponsored by Salt and Light Leadership Training (SALLT) with support from Museum of the Bible.
As a special celebration of the Oklahoma’s unique Native American cultural heritage and history, Museum of the Bible will display a rare, First Edition Cherokee Bible, 1856, printed by Mission Press in Park Hill, Oklahoma.
“The Celebration of the Bible Concert” is free to attend and will be held Friday, November 18th, 6:30 PM-8:00 PM at First Church OKC, 131 Northwest 4th Street hosted by Christian worship leader, Jami Smith, along with Bible readers, Marcy Priest, Marcus Jackson, Sisters and Brothers of Tomorrow Youth Choir and more. This will be a unique evening of worship and corporate celebration exclusively focused on the Bible.
“This concert is extraordinary in that it brings together leaders of all stripes – from business, the arts, politics and faith – with the singular focus of celebrating the Bible,” says Steven Bickley, vice president for marketing for Museum of the Bible and SALLT alumnus. “We are honored to be a part of it and to pay tribute to Oklahoma’s distinct Cherokee heritage by displaying the 1856 Cherokee Bible.”
In addition to the concert, on the International Day of the Bible, Monday, November 21st, Oklahoma community, business, religious and government leaders will join thousands around the world at noon local time, in reading their favorite Bible passages in the Oklahoma State Capitol Rotunda. Participants are encouraged to read a favorite Bible passage in public, alone, or with friends and use the hashtag #BibleCelebration to share their favorite Bible passages on social media.

The International Day of the Bible – Every year, The International Day of the Bible (previously National Bible Week) is celebrated around the world at noon local time, where people of all ages publically and privately read the Bible to acknowledge the importance of the Bible in their communities. This annual event was founded by The National Bible Association, a non-profit, educational association operating in the public square that provides a platform for our Nation’s Leaders to encourage people to read the Bible.
