[Press Release] Medi-Share Membership Surpasses 300,000, Capping a Fiscal Year of Rapid Enrollment Growth

Aug. 23, 2017

MELBOURNE, Fla. — Christian Care Ministry recently concluded its 2017 fiscal year and now serves more than 300,000 members via its Medi-Share health care sharing program, a momentous milestone in the organization’s 24 years of serving Christians across the U.S.

Medi-Share is now available in all 50 states.

Reflecting upon this achievement, Medi-Share’s CEO Ted Squires says, “We love our members, and it’s such a privilege to care for them as they share with one another. During the past year, Medi-Share members shared more than $315 million of one another’s medical bills, bringing the total bills shared since 1993 to more than $1.2 billion. In addition, our extensive network of more than 700,000 medical providers has also resulted in more than $690 million in negotiated discounts on behalf of our members.”

The success of Medi-Share,” says Squires, “further affirms the power of sharing. While the sharing economy is touted as a relatively new idea, our members know that it is based on the biblical example of Christians carrying one another’s burdens. Sharing is as relevant and effective now as it was 2,000 years ago.”

Medi-Share is not insurance. Rather, it is an alternative to insurance, through which members share one another’s medical expenses. The average family pays about $350 per month for Medi-Share membership.

In addition to celebrating the 300,000 member landmark, Medi-Share also highlighted that in the 2017 fiscal year, its members shared more than $41 million in other members’ cancer expenses, more than $15 million for cardiac conditions and more than $36 million in expenses for childbirth.

“Every member represents a valuable and precious life,” says Squires. “It’s an incredible honor to be able to serve each of them in this capacity.”
