Jun. 8, 2017

ELKIN, N.C. — North Carolina and Virginia residents will have fun as they run for a global cause June 17 during the Foothills 5k Wet Run, a mixed-terrain race in Elkin, North Carolina.

Proceeds from the event will fund World Help’s clean water projects in impoverished communities in Guatemala, Uganda and India. Crosswhite Fitness, a Virginia-based personal training and fitness center, is hosting the race.

“We are very excited for the Foothills 5k Wet Run,” said Noel Yeatts, World Help vice president. “The support of local communities plays an indispensible role in accomplishing World Help’s vision of providing clean water to communities in need.

“One clean water project can transform the lives of up to 500 people, providing financial freedom, eliminating the risk of waterborne diseases and empowering girls and boys to pursue an education,” she continued. “By participating in the Foothills 5k Wet Run, you are not only helping quench thirst, but also providing a hope and a future for families around the world.”

To kickoff the weekend event, Michael Tait/Newsboys will perform in concert at 7:30 p.m., Friday, June 16, at Elkin Valley Baptist Church. Concert entry is free to race participants.

“The purpose of the Foothills 5k Wet Run is to provide the most exhilarating and fun 5k the area has ever seen while raising money for clean water projects in third-world countries,” said Ben Crosswhite, founder of Crosswhite Fitness.

“With just this one event, we can save hundreds of lives by providing clean drinking water. I couldn’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday.”

Registration for the Foothills 5k Wet Run ends Friday, June 16.
