ORANGE COUNTY, Calif. – Rebecca Friedrichs releases the following statement after President Trump called on Congress during his third State of the Union Address Tuesday to approve the Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act:
“Congress must immediately take up and approve President Trump’s proposed Education Freedom Scholarships and Opportunity Act. These scholarships are a powerful weapon in the fight to free our American education system from the talons of corrupt special interests and union-controlled politicians that are implanting radical far-Left ideology into our classrooms, undermining good citizenship and the foundational principals of our constitutional republic. Families are desperate to escape the dismal fruits of these terrible policies that create unsafe learning environments and trample parent’s rights and deeply held values.
“What’s more, every child is unique, and it is foolish to think a one-size-fits-all approach to education will produce anything but mediocre – sometimes tragic – results. Families must be free to choose schools that best fit their needs and goals, schools that best catalyze a child’s learning and rise to success. These scholarships allow for that, and I thank President Trump and Education Secretary Betsy DeVos for working so hard to make them available to America’s school kids.”
