Relevant Magazine calls Yang “the sharpest activist in the Church today.”

NEW YORK, NY – World Relief Vice President for Advocacy and Policy Jenny Yang has been listed by Relevant Magazine as one of “7 leaders to follow in 2017.” The list, which also includes well-known speaker, author and activist Christine Caine and USA Today columnist Kirsten Powers, describes Yang as “the sharpest activist in the Church today.”

“It’s an honor to be given a place among leaders that I myself admire and strive to be like,” said Yang. “Beyond my individual contributions, I thank Relevant Magazine for acknowledging, in a broader sense, the important work we do here at World Relief to help the world’s most vulnerable people. It’s a great honor individually, but it’s also a recognition of incredible team I’m fortunate to be a part of.”

The list also includes author Katelyn Beaty, Sojourner columnist Lisa Sharon Harper, and authors Jo Saxton and Shauna Niequist. The publication notes Yang’s advocacy work in rallying the church in America to get involved in meeting the needs of refugees displaced by war, persecution, and violence. In 2016 she played a pivotal role in helping World Relief, alongside 1,180 congregations, resettle a record number of refugees in the United States.

In her role as vice president for advocacy and policy, Yang regularly works closely with members of Congress on Capitol Hill. She also participated in the United Nations’ Summit for Refugees and Migrants and the Leader’s Summit on Refugees convened by President Obama. Yang has also been a speaker at high-profile events like Q Ideas, Catalyst, and IF:Gathering; is a contributing columnist for Christianity Today; and has been featured in other outlets such as The Atlantic and The Washington Post. She is widely recognized as an authority and thought leader on humanitarian affairs including immigration, foreign policy, peace building and economic development.

In 2012, Yang was listed in Christianity Today’s “50 Women You Should Know” list.
