[Press Release] World Help Sends Help and Hope in a Bucket of Blessings

Apr. 13, 2018

DANVILLE, Va. — It will be a different kind of party Saturday, as World Help and volunteers with God’s Pit Crew (GPC) gather for a “packing party” to assemble buckets of home essentials for families in need in a new international effort. For their first mission in this venture of blessing, the two groups will be helping individuals in Guatemala.

GPC’s Buckets of Blessings are traditionally comprised of necessities such as blankets, hygiene items, vitamins and supplements, school supplies, small toys and more. These buckets then go to victims of domestic disasters, such as Hurricane Harvey in Texas, for which World Help partnered with GPC in the relief effort. Now, the focus has broadened to aiding impoverished families around the world.

The packing party for assembling Buckets of Blessings for families in Guatemala will take place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at God’s Pit Crew headquarters in Danville, Virginia.

There will be several hundred GPC and World Help volunteers in attendance, and additional volunteers are welcome to come serve.

After the buckets are assembled, World Help will ship them to Guatemala and distribute them via partners on the ground. If this initiative is a success, it may expand to other countries around the world.

The buckets contain basic supplies to help impoverished families.

“World Help is excited to partner with God’s Pit Crew to bring our local community together to impact another community across the world that is in need,” said Mark Hogsed, World Help’s vice president of international programs.

“This packing party is an opportunity to be a part of changing someone’s life. More than just an assortment of supplies and essentials, the buckets deliver the immediate physical help and the spiritual hope many families in Guatemala desperately need.”

World Help has been at work in Guatemala for more than 10 years. The organization’s programs there include clean water, baby rescue, and child nutrition and sponsorship, among others.

Media note: Local media is welcome to attend Saturday’s packing party. Please email joshbrewer@worldhelp.net to get arrival details for the event.
