[Release] Acclaimed Original Delta Force Warrior to Deliver Memorial Day Message at Chicago’s Harvest Bible Chapel

May. 23, 2018

CHICAGO — Harvest Bible Chapel will welcome Lieutenant General (Ret.) Jerry Boykin as the keynote speaker for all services on Memorial Day weekend. Boykin was one of the original members of the U.S. Army’s Delta Force and was privileged to ultimately command these elite warriors in combat operations. Later, Boykin commanded all the Army’s Green Berets. In all, Lt. Gen. Boykin spent 36 years in the army, serving his last four years as the Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence.

Asked about the opportunity to preach at Harvest Bible Chapel, Boykin said:

“I’m delighted to be speaking to the faithful members of Harvest on such an important weekend. I will be forever thankful for the blood that has been shed for my sins, and the blood that has been shed for my liberty. We’re told in the Book of John, “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” What a humbling experience it has been to know many of the warriors who have done just that. I’m honored to play a role in a service commemorating their priceless gift to all Americans.”

Reflecting on the many courageous Americans who have given their lives for the freedom we enjoy, Harvest Bible Chapel Pastor James MacDonald said:

“May we never take for granted the tremendous liberty we have been given in this country, allowing us to gather together and worship freely. For more than 200 years, brave men and women have paid the ultimate price to protect this blessing. This weekend we will thank God for those whose bravery and sacrifice have allowed us to live in peace and freedom, making a way for the American church to proclaim the gospel in this land and around the world.”
