CHICAGO — This summer, Harvest Bible Chapel is celebrating its 30th year of ministry in the Chicagoland area with a summer revival featuring some of America’s leading Bible teachers, award-winning musicians, and television personalities. For the second week of the celebration, on Saturday, August 4, Harvest will hear from evangelist, pastor, and friend Greg Laurie.
Laurie is the senior pastor of Harvest Christian Fellowship with campuses in California and Hawaii. He is also the featured speaker for Harvest Crusades and Harvest America, large-scale public evangelistic events attended by more than 7.6 million people in the US, Canada, New Zealand and Australia since 1990. Laurie is committed to “Knowing God and making him known,” and outreach is a very large part of the realization of this vision.
Those attending will also hear a faith testimony from Barry Meguiar, the host of Discovery’s Velocity program, “Car Crazy.” Live music will be a part of the festivities, featuring chart-topping hip-hop artist KB, Dove Award-winning worship singer Paul Baloche, Grammy and Tony-Award winning artist Heather Headley, and Harvest’s own Vertical Worship band.
“Last weekend as we began our celebration, the revival far exceeded my expectations with even more people attending than we anticipated,” said Founding and Senior Pastor James MacDonald. “It was a memorable start to our celebration of 30 years of God’s faithfulness. And I’m thrilled to have my good friend Greg Laurie here to minister to us this coming weekend. Greg is one of the most fearless preachers of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and we all have much to learn from his unwavering dedication. People who want to see God move afresh in their lives and want to celebrate 30 years of God’s faithfulness should join with us as we seek Him with our whole hearts.”
Each of the three revival weekends will be a Ravinia-style service on Saturday night, held at Harvest’s church campus in Elgin. On Sundays August 5, and August 12, Elgin will offer only the 9:00 a.m. service. The Sunday services at all other campuses will be at their regularly scheduled times. This weekend’s revival begins on Saturday, August 4, at 2 p.m. The day kicks off with a vintage car and motorcycle show. A food tent with local restaurant vendors will be onsite with a variety of options available for purchase.
