LAKEWOOD, Col. — The Centennial Institute, Colorado Christian University’s public policy think tank, will host its annual Western Conservative Summit virtually on Oct. 10, 2020. For the first time in the summit’s 11 year history, the event will be held free of charge — made possible through its Freedomfy crowd-funding campaign. This year, the Western Conservative Summit will kick off with, “America, America, God Shed His Grace on Thee,” a one-hour documentary produced by the Institute. Watch the trailer here.
“I have never felt a greater need and hunger for God among our people as I did as we traveled around the country making this picture,” said Chris Burgard, director of the documentary. “You can’t separate Liberty from God. Riots, pandemic, unrest…there is an awakening happening, a revival, and it is growing.”
Through interviews with high-profile conservative leaders, the documentary explores how Scripture and Judeo-Christian values influenced the founding of the United States. Senator Ted Cruz, Dennis Prager, Brigitte Gabriel, Ben Shapiro, Alveda King, Andrew Young, and Secretary Ben Carson are among the interviewees. “America, America, God Shed His Grace on Thee” also features the late Herman Cain’s last interview.
The documentary stars American actor, director and documentary filmmaker Nick Searcy.
“This movie is about America’s relationship with God—how it started, how it has changed since our founding, and how that relationship will carry us into the future,” said Searcy.
Currently, the Institute endeavors to raise $400,000 through Freedomfy to finish the documentary.
“While elections are important, what our nation really needs is to return to its biblical founding,” said Jeff Hunt, Chairman of the Western Conservative Summit.
After the film showing, viewers will be invited to participate in digital workshops.
