[Release] Free Chapel to distribute free 20 lb. boxes of chicken for community in need

May. 14, 2020
SPARTANBURG – On Thursday, May 14, Free Chapel will open their parking lot to hand out a truckload of 20lb cases of frozen chicken to the Spartanburg community for those in need. Volunteers and staff will be operating under the strict COVID-19 guidelines to keep the attendees safe. This drive-through experience will be held in the Free Chapel Spartanburg Campus parking lot located at 500 Evangel Rd. from 5-8 pm on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Since the COVID-19 outbreak began Senior Pastor Jentezen Franklin has continued to spread encouragement during a time when people are desperate for hope with his message of “Faith over Fear.” The church doors for in-person services have been closed since March 15th but he has continued to preach these messages during the live stream services at www.freechapel.org/livePastor Jentezen has been active in uplifting his congregation and the community along with his social media platforms to inspire people to remain a beacon of hope to those in their communities and even in their own homes.

He talked about the altered church services in a recent interview “It’s been kind of refreshing because the church is not the building with all the lights, big budgets and all of that. The church is the people.”

With the passion to focus on helping the community in this time, staff and volunteers from the 8 Free Chapel campuses have been responding to the COVID-19 effects by serving people that are the most vulnerable. They have been partnering with many organizations during the pandemic, including Meals on Wheels, which helps provide meals to the disabled and elderly in need. They have taken food to hospital workers and officers on duty and have partnered with many organizations across each campus to host blood drives and many other outreaches.

The next scheduled blood drive will be held on Saturday, May 16, in the Spartanburg Campus parking lot from 9 am-1 pm. Free Chapel will partner with The Blood Connection. Reserve your spot to donate blood to those in need at freechapel.org/events/blood-drive.
