[Release] Museum of the Bible to Host Two-Day Symposium: ‘Performing the Bible: Christian Drama and the Arts’

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Museum of the Bible will present “Performing the Bible: Christian Drama and the Arts,” a two-day symposium at Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. on March 22 – 23, 2018 from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The two-day symposium will feature distinguished art, theater, music and literary scholars from around the world to discuss themes of performance in Christianity, from the early Church to the modern era, from the East to the West. Speakers will explore the meaning of sacred drama and analyze specific rituals, performances and dramatic practices that have developed throughout the history of the Church.

The event will also highlight how the dramatic presentation of the sacred is common in liturgy, reading, devotion and preaching, and how it can be seen as true theatrical performance. The symposium is interdisciplinary and open to the public, from experts in the arts to those simply curious to explore how Christian tradition has been expressed through the arts.

TICKETS: Tickets are $150 for general admission and $100 for museum members and include coffee, lunch and refreshments. Tickets for this event are available here.
