[Release] My Faith Votes: Evangelicals Say, ‘Thank You,’ to President Trump for Recognizing Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital

Dec. 13, 2017

DALLAS — Following President Trump’s historic announcement that the U.S. would recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Evangelicals in America have sent a “Thank You” message to the president for fulfilling his campaign promise to support Israel.

“Thank you for keeping your campaign promise and listening to the voices of evangelicals across the country,” said the message Evangelicals sent to the White House.

“We are so grateful for your bold leadership to uphold the 1995 Jerusalem Embassy Act and move the United States Israel Embassy to Jerusalem. We are praying for you daily as you continue to make difficult decisions on behalf of the United States.”

My Faith Votes, a nonpartisan organization that focuses on educating and mobilizing Christian voters, organized the campaign to send the messages of appreciation to the president.

“President Trump has not only fulfilled a promise to the people of Israel. He’s also fulfilled a promise to the millions of Christians who supported him, believing that he would stand by our ally Israel, home of our Judeo-Christian faith” said Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes. “We continue to pray for the peace of Jerusalem, trusting, as the Scriptures say, that those who love her will be secure.”

Earlier this month, as the six-month deadline approached to move the embassy or keep it in Tel Aviv, My Faith Votes mobilized Christians to encourage the president to fulfill his campaign promise to relocate the U.S. mission to Israel to Jerusalem. Evangelicals, including groups like My Faith Votes, were credited with helping set the stage for President Trump’s historic decision.
