DALLAS — Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, issues the following statement on the closing day of the U.S. State Department’s second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom:
“At the close of the State Department’s second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom we are left with a deep sense of gratitude. Gratitude for a country that protects the God-given right to live and worship according to one’s deeply held religious beliefs and gratitude that President Trump and his Administration would bring together political and religious leaders from over 100 nations and a spectrum of faiths to prioritize the global acceptance of that right.
“Yet our gratitude also calls us to a renewed vigilance to see freedom of belief universally protected and cherished. We owe it to the believers who’ve suffered unimaginable persecution, to those whose commitment to their faith made them martyrs and to those who’ve come to the defense of the persecuted — even when it cost them power, position or their very lives — to proclaim loudly the right of religious liberty for all.”
