[Release] Nick Hall gathers prominent cast of pastors, artists, public officials and influencers to encourage church leaders ahead of Easter 2020

Apr. 6, 2020
MINNEAPOLIS — Nick Hall, founder of the millennial-led evangelism movement PULSE and visionary behind the Year of the Bible campaign, is gathering a cast of some of the most prominent American pastors, artists, influencers and public officials to encourage church leaders ahead of Easter weekend.

Leader Check-In (Wednesday, April 8, 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. CST) is a free, 10-hour live event featuring a multi-denominational, -generational and -ethnic guest list, ranging from pastors such as Matt Chandler and Samuel Rodriguez to artists Lecrae and Michael W. Smith, authors Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend and public figures Sen. Tim Scott, Dr. Jerome Adams. The event is an initiative of PULSE and Year of the Bible to come alongside ministry leaders and offer practical advice anchored in the Word of God during a time of crisis.

“Easter 2020 may be the most important Easter celebration in the past century,” Nick Hall said. “We are living through an unprecedented time in church history. People are looking for hope and turning to churches in record numbers. I believe the message of a God who not only suffers with and for us but also defeats sin and death has been more needed, but we will miss this moment if we don’t care for our pastors and ministers now. Leaders are pouring themselves out to encourage their congregations during this global crisis. They are weary and need encouragement as well.”

Leader Check-In will be available to watch for free at LeaderCheckIn.com and through PULSE’s Facebook page on Wednesday, April 8, from 8:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. CST. Artists Michael W. Smith and Travis Greene will lead worship sets, while Matt Chandler, Dr. John Townsend, Dr. Henry Cloud, Pastor John Gray, Rev. Samuel Rodriguez, Bishop Vincent Matthews, Ed Stetzer, Museum of the Bible Chairman Steve Green, The Bible Recap podcast host Tara-Leigh Cobble, National Day of Prayer Task Force President Kathy Branzell and others will encourage and uplift leaders.

Sen. Tim Scott from South Carolina and VADM Jerome M. Adams, M.D., M.P.H., will deliver special remarks regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

Leader Check-In also also will be an opportunity to respond to needs of churches and individuals who are experiencing economic hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic. PULSE is partnering with the Churches Helping Churches campaign to raise funds for churches who are at risk of closing down because of the stay-at-home and lockdown orders across the nation. The campaign estimates at least 10% of churches in America, mostly from immigrant and minority communities, face this risk. To learn more, visit: https://www.churchrelief.org.

Humanitarian relief organization World Vision will also give viewers an opportunity to meet the needs of individuals who are impacted most by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Over the past few weeks, PULSE and Year of the Bible have been producing content to help people stay spiritually fit during the era of social distancing. Nick Hall hosts The Bible Quarantine, a daily show on FOX Nation that explores subjects that are currently dominating the national discussion in America, such as the meaning of church when people physically cannot meet together for worship and how to deal with fear in the face of uncertainty.

PULSE also released the mobile app Move Closer, a digital discipleship platform designed to bring people together for the sake of the gospel. The app combines community, teaching, and a simple interface to empower everyday people to disciple everyday people. The app features devotional content, Scripture study plans and videos to engage users in uplifting discussions on a variety of topics.

In addition to these resources, Year of the Bible has resources available so people can begin their own year of engaging with Scripture. Among these resources are Together in Scripture, a 12-month plan to dive into the story of the Bible with a global community; the Bible Recap Podcast, a daily podcast hosted by Tara-Leigh Cobble; and The Bible Project, which features short animated videos on each book of the Bible and biblical themes and concepts.
