PLANO, Texas — Ten years ago, Prestonwood en Español launched as a ministry to reach and serve the burgeoning Spanish-speaking community of North Texas. What started as a small gathering of faithful Hispanic Christian believers has now become the fastest-growing ministry of Prestonwood Baptist Church.

This Sunday, April 28, Prestonwood Baptist Church celebrates the story of Prestonwood en Español and its exponential growth over the years.

Under the leadership of Pastor Gilberto Corredera, Prestonwood en Español has grown to a thriving Spanish-speaking community of 1,700 active members, representing 19 countries. The ministry has Sunday services in Plano and Lewisville, Texas, and in 2017, expanded these services to an international audience through Telemundo, with an average of 7,000 viewers tuning in weekly.

“We give all glory to God on this 10th anniversary of Prestonwood en Español,” Corredera said.

“It is truly only by the faithfulness, the power, the grace and the mercy of God that we have arrived at this milestone. We have celebrated many victories and we have experienced much grief, but God has been there through it all. We are so grateful for our past and we look expectantly toward the future as we know that with God, the best is yet to come.”

Pastor Jack Graham, who this June celebrates 30 years of ministry at Prestonwood Baptist Church, also gives credit to God for the success of the church’s Spanish-language ministry.

“Prestonwood en Español is truly a story of God’s grace,” Graham said. “Since day one, we have seen how it has grown into a ministry beyond anything we could have expected. Thousands of Spanish-speaking families across North Texas and beyond are being blessed by Prestonwood en Español. We eagerly await to see and be surprised by all that God will do through this ministry over the next 10 years.”
