PLANO, Texas — Prestonwood Baptist Church — one of the largest and fastest growing churches in America — has reached a new milestone as its choir has been nominated for a Dove Award.
The Gospel Music Association, which hosts the awards ceremony, put forward Prestonwood Worship Choir’s latest production HORIZON as a runner up for the Choral Collection of the Year Dove Award.
Released in 2017, the album is a beautiful arrangement that speaks of hope and new beginnings in Christ. It includes tracks such as “Psalm 46” (Lord of Hosts), “All the Praise” and “City of Joy,” which have quickly become favorites at Prestonwood’s Sunday services and have been adopted into the worship sets of churches across America.
“In our multigenerational, multiethnic church, one of our central expressions of worship is our choir and orchestra,” said Michael Neale, lead worship pastor at Prestonwood Baptist Church. “HORIZON, our latest recording project, captures this dynamic, leading listeners to a unified heart of worship that centers on Jesus.”
“It is so exciting to be part of a church that celebrates so many expressions of art in our worship,” Neale added. “Our mission and purpose as the Prestonwood Worship Ministry has never been more clarion.”
Jack Graham, who has pastored the church for nearly three decades, also celebrated the choir’s success.
“As a church, we have determined that whatever we do — whether it’s worship, or member care or even parking — we will put all of our energy, creativity and passion into it. If it’s for the Lord, it ought to be excellent,” Graham said.
“I’m delighted to say the Prestonwood Worship Choir has been one of the ministries in our church that has gone above and beyond in leading our congregation in worship and producing excellent, professional grade music. As a congregation we are proud of their Dove Award nomination, though we are not surprised as we see their hard work and dedication week in and week out.”
The 49th GMA Dove Awards will be held Oct. 16 in Nashville, Tennessee.
