American Association of Christian Counselors

AACC is committed to assisting Christian counselors, the entire “community of care,” licensed professionals, pastors, and lay church members with little or no formal training. It is our intention to equip clinical, pastoral, and lay care-givers with biblical truth and psychosocial insights that minister to hurting persons and helps them move to personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental stability, and spiritual maturity.

[Release] Sold Out AACC Mega National Christian Counseling Conference in Dallas To Mobilize Mental Health Community to ‘Speak Life’

Sep. 24, 2018

Forest, Va. — The American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC) will host its 2018 Mega National Christian Counseling Conference in Dallas September 27–29. Incorporating the theme “Speak Life,” the three-day event is built around four core areas: counseling, recovery, marriage and family issues and professional coaching.

Nearly 2,000 Christian mental health leaders, pastors, coaches, lay helpers, concerned family members and community leaders will join together to hear from a stellar lineup of plenary speakers including: Ronnie Floyd, Josh McDowell, Tony Evans, Kay Warren, Ed Stetzer, John Townsend, Ron Hawkins, Gregory Jantz, Ev Worthington, Ian Jones, Diane Langberg, Jeremiah Johnston and AACC President Tim Clinton.

In addition to the plenary sessions, attendees will choose between two different conference options.

The traditional conference option allows for a custom-tailored experience, with attendees able to fill their schedule with workshops from any of the offered eight professional tracks: Child, Adolescent and Family Issues and Interventions; Love, Sexuality and Relationships; Couples in Crisis — Relationship Conflict and Marital Recovery; Grief, Crisis, Trauma and Disaster; Addiction, Relapse and Recovery; Clinical Assessment, Research and Evidence-based Practices; Professional Life Coaching and Consultation; The Faith Factor and Spiritual Interventions.

The “specialization” counselor and coaching intensives option allows attendees to gain more advanced training, learning from the latest research in an interactive environment. The intensives also allow attendees to earn a 12-hour Professional Certificate of Completion. Offered intensives include Mental Health and the Mission of the Church; Neurobiology and the Treatment of Mood and Anxiety Disorders; Attachment-based, Empirically-supported Treatment for Chronic Depression and Relational Trauma; Trauma and Crisis Response: The First 48 Hours; Building and Maintaining a Thriving Coaching Practice; and Reproductive Loss and Sexual Trauma.

Behind the scenes, two closed-door commissions will convene experts and influencers to develop concrete steps for the Christian mental health community to make an impact on racial reconciliation and sexual trauma in the #MeToo Era.

The AACC will also announce a partnership with Covenant Eyes, the world’s largest online platform for building sexual integrity and accountability, to produce a new training certification curriculum. The “Sexual Integrity Coach Training and Certification Program” aims to develop coaching skills for those who work to help others overcome addiction to pornography.
