International Fellowship of Christians and Jews

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews was founded in 1983 to promote understanding and cooperation between Jews and Christians and to build broad support for Israel and other shared concerns. Our vision is that Jews and Christians will reverse their 2,000-year history of discord and replace it with a relationship marked by dialogue, understanding, respect and cooperation.

[Release] With Support from Christians Around the World, The Fellowship Prepares to Assist Over 200,000 Jews This Passover

Apr. 16, 2019

JERUSALEM — Through the celebration of Passover, Jews around the world commemorate their miraculous deliverance by God from 430 years of slavery and oppression in Egypt: “Because the LORD kept vigil that night to bring them out of Egypt, on this night all the Israelites are to keep vigil to honor the LORD for the generations to come” (Exodus 12:42). This Passover season, the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (The Fellowship) will be assisting over 200,000 Jews largely through the support of Christian friends around the world.

“Despite our extensive humanitarian work, our ultimate mission is one of building bridges between Christians and Jews,” said Yael Eckstein, President of The Fellowship. “That mission is never more pronounced than at Passover each year as Christians around the world join the Jewish community in celebrating together and by providing practical assistance to those who do not have the resources to celebrate, themselves.”

In total, more than $5 million of aid will be distributed throughout Passover, including over $250,000 in assistance dedicated to welfare programs for children, alone.

The Fellowship will also:

  • Provide food cards for families of underprivileged youth
  • Provide Matzah, Grape Juice and Seders for underprivileged families
  • Provide gift cards to IDF soldiers and their families
  • Provide a grant to assist for 5,000 IDF orphans
  • Provide matzah boxes for nearly 50,000 elderly Jews, including Holocaust survivors

The Fellowship has also set up a hotline that needy families can call in order to make special make requests for food and other basic needs.

On April 14 a Passover event took place at the official residence of the president of Israel, the President’s House. Joining the president’s wife, Nechama Rivlin, was the wife of the IDF Chief of Staff, the Chairperson of Yachad Lema’an Hachayal, and the president of The Fellowship Yael Eckstein.
