[Statement] Dr. Andrea Ramirez, Executive Director of the Faith and Education Coalition, an Initiative of the NHCLC, Issues Statement on Teachers Appreciation Day

May. 9, 2017

WASHINGTON, May 9, 2017Dr. Andrea Ramirez, Executive Director of the Faith and Education Coalition, an initiative of the NHCLC, issues the following statement in honor of Teacher Appreciation Day:

“At the Faith and Education Coalition (FEC), our mission is to advocate and promote equity in education for all students regardless of their race, income or zip code. Teachers represent the critical bridge in achieving this goal. To us at the FEC and on behalf of the millions of students we advocate for, teachers are the everyday heroes who go above and beyond what they get paid to do. The most effective teachers who are making the deepest impact have high expectations of their students, invite accountability by engaging students and parents alike, and knowledge share so others benefit from their best practices. It’s to these teacher champions that we dedicate this day.

We encourage students and parents everywhere to nominate your teacher champion by using the hashtags #tagateacher #teacherappreciationday in honor of their incredible contributions to the lives of our children and to the betterment of our society.”
