[Statement] Dr. David Jeremiah Issues Statement After the Release of Pastor Andrew Brunson, Calls on Christians to Remember Those Still ‘Silently-Suffering’

Oct. 12, 2018

EL CAJON, Calif. — Pastor, Bible teacher, New York Times bestselling author and nationally syndicated TV and radio host, Dr. David Jeremiah releases the following statement:

“I am, simply put, overjoyed that Pastor Andrew Brunson has been released by the Turkish Government and that he and his family will be allowed to travel back home to the United States. No man or woman should live in fear of bodily harm, imprisonment or intimidation for practicing their faith, nor should we sit idly by when they are made scapegoats by governments, either foreign or domestic. In pastor Brunson’s case, I want to commend the Trump Administration for working so diligently on his release, refusing to take ‘no’ for an answer. While I am grateful for this welcome conclusion, I pray this story serves to remind Christians everywhere that many of our brothers and sisters are still silenting suffering in jails, or getting beaten, killed and in all ways persecuted for their faith in Jesus. May we remember to keep praying for them, and doing everything in our power to be their earthly and spiritual advocates.”
