DALLAS — Dr. Robert Jeffress, senior pastor of First Baptist Dallas, releases the following statement, in response to last night’s terrorist attack in Manchester, England:
“Our hearts break for the children and others who were needlessly—and shamelessly—killed in Manchester last night by Islamic terrorists. May God be ‘a very present help,’ for those who mourn today.
“We are living in a time of global darkness and trial, a time when evil seems to run loose and unchecked in too many parts of this world. Yet, there is an eternal hope available to us all in the power of Jesus Christ, whose death and resurrection offers us a hope in Heaven that transcends every type of evil and trial in our world today.
“We also have a temporal hope as God has blessed our world with a president of the United States who is not ashamed of American power, and whose symbolic actions and poignant statements in Saudi Arabia and Israel this week have made it clear that evil men now have fewer corners of our world within which they can hide.
“It all reminds me of the words of the Apostle Paul in Romans 16:20, ‘the God of peace will soon crush satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.’”
