DALLAS — Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, releases the following statement after President Trump signed into law the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act:
“Something remarkable quietly took place in Washington recently: bipartisanship. With both houses of Congress overwhelmingly voting to pass the Stop Enabling Sex Traffickers Act, and President Trump signing the bill into law yesterday, our government has loudly stood up for justice for the defenseless. There is no greater purpose than for our leaders to uphold the dignity of every person, and this legislation is a fantastic step forward in the fight to protect the life and liberty of those threatened by sexual exploitation.
“It is appalling that, even as they scream for their idea of women’s rights, groups such as the Women’s March openly opposed the legislation, arguing the bill would make it harder for sex workers to operate safely in their industry. Anyone who professes to care about women’s rights should know that the sex industry is the definition of bondage and oppression. It robs our most vulnerable — including children — of their God-given dignity and reduces them to mere objects of pleasure.
“I thank Congress and President Trump for not only raising awareness, but fighting for the vulnerable with this legislation.”
