[Statement] My Faith Votes Calls Americans to Pray and Love One Another on National Day of Prayer

May. 2, 2019

DALLAS — Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, issues the following statement:

“On the National Day of Prayer, Americans of every stripe are called to do two simple things: pray and love one another. Prayer quiets our spirit and causes us to look to the Creator for the strength to find solutions to the problems facing us personally and as a society. Through prayer, we acknowledge our dependence on God to heal our divided politics, to end the hateful violence that shatters the sanctity of our houses of worship and to lead us out of our ideological echo chambers to find common ground in service to others. One of the most practical — and indispensable — ways to achieve the healing, peace and unity we so desperately desire is to extend love to one another by praying, not only for those with whom we agree, but especially for those we don’t.”
