[Statement] My Faith Votes Calls On Congress To Conduct A Fair Confirmation Hearing For Gorsuch

Mar. 20, 2017

DALLAS, Texas — My Faith Votes CEO Jason Yates releases the following statement calling the Senate Judiciary Committee to set partisanship aside and conduct a fair confirmation hearing for Judge Neil Gorsuch:

“Anyone looking back at what happened last November knows — without a doubt — that the primary reason Christians in America went out to vote in record numbers was their concern for the future of the Supreme Court. The growing threats to religious freedom and the undermining of the sanctity of human life drove millions to tell our leaders they wanted change. Now this electoral process finds its culmination in the confirmation hearing of Supreme Court nominee Judge Neil Gorsuch.

“As a growing movement of citizens who desire to see American values and principles preserved, we call on the Senate Judiciary Committee to set aside partisanship and listen to the voices of their constituents. We ask them to conduct a fair and non-politicized hearing for Judge Neil Gorsuch.

“America needs judges and justices like Gorsuch, who will put personal opinions aside to ensure that American jurisprudence remains anchored in the actual words of our Constitution, words which have guided us for more than 240 years. This is what We the People voted for, and we are keenly watching how our elected officials behave themselves over the course of Gorsuch’s hearing.”
