[Statement] My Faith Votes Commends Alabama Legislators for Standing for Life

May. 3, 2017

DALLAS — My Faith Votes CEO Jason Yates releases the following statement commending Alabama legislators for recently approving two important measures. The first allows voters to decide if a “right to life” protection will be included in the state’s constitution. The second would grant religious freedom protections to child adoption service providers:

“Though seemingly small steps in the greater struggle against abortion and in opposition to the cultural fight for the redefinition of marriage in our nation, these measures represent deeply-held values shared by millions of American Christians. My Faith Votes commends these Alabama legislators, who are listening to the voices of their constituents by fighting to defend life and preserve the freedoms of religious institutions. May these courageous actions inspire other legislators to join them in leading America back to a nation of life and religious liberty.”

My Faith Votes—whose founding honorary national chairman was Dr. Ben Carson—is a non-partisan movement focused on motivating Christians in America to participate in local and national elections and be active members of society. By partnering with local churches, pastors and national faith leaders, My Faith Votes mobilizes and resources Christians to lead the conversation on the place of faith in culture and politics. In the 2016 election, My Faith Votes was largely credited with activating a sizable percentage of the 25 million Evangelicals who were registered to vote in previous elections but had chosen not to, prompting a record turnout by Evangelicals.
