[Statement] My Faith Votes Issues Statement in Honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Jan. 15, 2018

DALLAS — Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, issues the following statement in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day:

“Martin Luther King Jr. was many things. He was a civil rights leader, a pastor, a husband, a father and even a martyr. But at heart, he was a follower of Jesus Christ. It was his Christian faith that fueled his thirst for biblical justice. It was his faith that made him dream of a day in America when every man, woman and child would be united under the truth that “all men are created equal.” It was this faith that gave him purpose and hope as he led the greatest civil rights movement of the 20th century.

“Dr. King once said, ‘our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.’ On this 50th anniversary of his death, let us each one of us ask ourselves how we can continue the work he started, to make America a more united United States.”
