[Statement] My Faith Votes: White House Faith Initiative ‘Deepens’ Cooperation Between Faith Community and Government

May. 4, 2018

DALLAS — Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, releases the following statement:

“I welcome President Trump’s executive order establishing the White House Faith and Opportunity Initiative, announced yesterday during a special National Day of Prayer ceremony in the White House Rose Garden. The President said that ‘faith is more powerful than government, and nothing is more powerful than God.’ I wholeheartedly agree.

“For centuries, people of faith have taken a leading role in fighting poverty, illiteracy, hunger, illness and injustice, and providing a way for new beginnings for those in need. The commitment and compassion of people of faith to live out the values of their faith is what will ultimately bring peace and prosperity to our communities and our nation. The administration’s Faith Initiative deepens the partnership between the faith community and the government and, if the experience and resources of both can be leveraged, is positioned to achieve positive progress on the critical issues that impact our communities.”
