[Statement] On Teacher Appreciation Day, Rebecca Friedrichs Calls Families to ‘Adopt a Teacher Out of Union Oppression’

May. 7, 2019

LOS ANGELES — Rebecca Friedrichs, founder of For Kids & Country, a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate and empower teachers, parents, students, faith leaders and citizens in the fight to restore proper authority, excellence and safety in America’s schools and culture, issues the following statement in celebration of America’s school teachers on National Teacher Appreciation Day:

“Teachers are the key to bringing safety and healing to our schools and country, and they have the amazing responsibility, together with parents, to introduce our children to the beauty of learning. Unfortunately, most teachers don’t know their state and national teachers’ unions use their dues money to aggressively implement radical ‘seXXX ed’ curriculums and divisive social and political agendas that run opposite the treasured values of the majority of America’s teachers and families.

“That’s why, on National Teacher Appreciation Day, I humbly ask every parent, faith leader and citizen concerned about protecting our children, how their minds are being molded in school, and who are disturbed by the direction of our schools and culture to adopt a teacher out of union oppression. Adopting a teacher is simple:

“First, invite your teacher(s) to coffee, breakfast, lunch, or dinner — pay the bill in honor of good teachers.

“Second, share your concerns and gift your teacher a copy of the book, ‘Standing Up To Goliath,’ which shines a light on union oppression through dozens of personal teacher testimonies.

“Third, make a commitment to stand by your adopted teachers for the long haul as they begin to stand up. Teachers have been totally isolated and abused for years, so we can’t expect them to fight their oppressors alone.

“Fourth, repeat this process with as many teachers as you can, and connect them with other teachers, parents, mature students and citizens to build a coalition.”
