DALLAS — Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, issues the following statement marking the 75th anniversary of the D-Day invasion of Normandy by Allied forces during World War II:
“Looking back the achievement of D-Day seems inevitable, but we must remember that for the over 156,000 mostly American, British and Canadian boys poised on landing craft staring at fortress Europe, death felt more certain than victory.
“On this 75th anniversary of the D-Day landing, we thank God that so many thousands upon thousands of men cherished liberty so much they set aside their own to rescue the freedom of millions from the talons of tyranny, oppression and evil.
“Jesus said ‘there is no greater love than for a man to lay down his life for his friends.’ So while we remember our heroes both lost and living for their valor and sacrifice, we also remember their love — of faith, freedom and their fellow man — that steeled their resolve.”
