International Fellowship of Christians and Jews

The International Fellowship of Christians and Jews was founded in 1983 to promote understanding and cooperation between Jews and Christians and to build broad support for Israel and other shared concerns. Our vision is that Jews and Christians will reverse their 2,000-year history of discord and replace it with a relationship marked by dialogue, understanding, respect and cooperation.

[Statement] Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein Congratulates the House of Representatives for Passing Bills Sanctioning Iran and Its Terrorist Proxy Hezbollah

Oct. 26, 2017

JERUSALEM — Rabbi Yechiel Eckstein, president and founder of the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews (“The Fellowship”), issues the following statement commending the House of Representatives for the passage of two critical bills:

  • H.R. 1698, the Iran Ballistic Missiles and International Sanctions Enforcement Act.
  • H.R. 3329, the Hizballah (or “Hezbollah”) International Financing Prevention Amendments Act of 2017.

“For nearly four decades, Iran and its terrorist proxy Hezbollah have maintained one sworn ambition: destroying Israel. To think that, if left alone, they would be deterred or even delayed from this obsession is the height of folly. Even in the face of international sanctions and explicit warnings, Iran continues to test and expand its ballistic missile arsenal, which the regime has already proven can reach Israeli soil. For its part, Hezbollah has executed the Iranian regime’s campaign of terror on the ground, murdering Israeli citizens, and even using sleeper cells to export anti-Semitism and terror throughout the Middle East, the Americas and Europe. And in fighting alongside Syria’s Assad regime, Hezbollah aims to establish a wider front surrounding the Jewish state.

“I applaud Reps. Ed Royce, Eliot Engel, Kevin McCarthy and Steny Hoyer for proactively setting hedges against Iran and Hezbollah — evil, indeed, doesn’t sleep. Without question, fighting terrorism and anti-Semitism should always be a bipartisan issue.”
