[Statement] Rev. Samuel Rodriguez Praises the Release of Pastor Andrew Brunson

Oct. 12, 2018

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Rev. Dr. Samuel Rodriguez, President of the National Hispanic Christian Leadership Conference, issues the following statement:

“After what has undoubtedly been an excruciating two years of captivity for Pastor Andrew Brunson and his family, I am overjoyed that his release has been secured and he will finally be coming home. This is the fitting end to what was nothing less than a humanitarian injustice against a man who was targeted for living out his Christian faith. Today’s news signals that the U.S. we will lead the world in safeguarding religious liberty. No one should live in fear of harm or imprisonment for practicing their faith in peace, and I want to commend this administration for living out those sacred values for all the world to see.”
