DALLAS — Dr. Robert Jeffress, the pastor of the 13,000-member First Baptist Church of Dallas, made the following remarks on “” regarding the testimony Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee of Dr. Christine Blasey Ford and Judge Brett Kavanaugh:
“It was impossible to watch the testimonies this afternoon without feeling empathy for Judge Kavanaugh and the hell he’s going through or sympathy for Dr. Ford and the pain she’s obviously in. But there is a bigger issue than either one of these individuals. The Democrats are trying to destroy the very foundation not only of our American legal system but of all of human civilization since the Mosaic law 3,000 years ago, and that is the presumption of innocence. Once we take that presumption away from the accused and give it to the accuser, we’re going to have nothing but chaos.
“The hearings are a stark reminder of why we can never allow the left to be in charge of anything ever again, and they are going to energize the base to vote in the midterms in record numbers.
“Tuesday’s hearings put the hypocrisy of the Democrats on full display for the entire world to see, pretending to be concerned about the abuse of women and the account given by doctor Ford when we all know that their No. 1 objection to Judge Kavanaugh is that he might restrict in some way the murder of 700,000 females every year in the womb through abortion. It is hypocrisy to say you care about the abuse of women when you don’t care about the murder of women.
“Make no mistake, the forces arrayed in Tuesday’s hearings were far more than Republicans and Democrats. There is a battle between good and evil, between light and darkness. When we talk about a grab for power, we all know that the real power is in the judiciary. President Trump understands this and that is why he is replacing the judiciary not just at the Supreme Court level but at the Federal appellate level as well. He is going to have a lasting impact from this country for 30 to 40 years from now because of what he’s doing to remake the judiciary.
“Tonight, our prayers are with the Senate of the United States, courageous Judge Kavanaugh and his extraordinary family, and doctor Ford and her family as well.”
