[Statement] World Help VP Noel Yeatts: ‘There should be no slaves today’

Jan. 11, 2018

FOREST, Va. — Noel Yeatts, vice president of Christian humanitarian organization World Help, releases the following statement on Human Trafficking Awareness Day, Jan. 11:

“Slavery is one of the most dehumanizing forms of violence humanity has ever invented. It robs children of their innocence, women of their choices and men of their dignity. In the 21st century, slavery should be a horrifying, distant memory from the past; yet, the reality is that there are more slaves today than at any other point in history.

“On this Human Trafficking Awareness Day, we remember the men, women, and children who are living without the freedom we too often take for granted. Their pain demands us to do everything in our power to make sure the world’s greatest, most enduring injustice comes to an end.

“One child born into generational slavery is one too many. One woman forced to sell her body for someone else’s pleasure is one too many.

“We’re living in the 21st century. There should be no slaves today.”

World Help’s freedom initiatives in Thailand and India help women escape the sex industry and overcome cultural slavery. You can learn more about these initiatives here.
